The Harmony of Life...

(part one) (part two) (part three)

This originated as a small journal entry while in church. As I typed, it became a bigger post. In order to have discretion with your reading time I've cut it into three posts. Above are the links to the first two posts.

You walk into a room and find an unconscious person laying on the floor. Against safety procedure, most of us would rush to their side to check to signs of life: the sound of breathing and the steady beat of a heart.

The Harmony of Life.

You can not have life without the course of air flowing in and out of your body, intermingling with the blood your heart pumps, bringing oxygen to even the most far cells of your body.

In my first two posts I related these sounds to two different relationships, one of a father and one of a lover.
Today, I'd like to address how beautiful life is.

Wikipedia's entry for a musical harmony begins:

"In musicharmony is the use of simultaneous pitches (tonesnotes), or chords.[1] The study of harmony involves chords and their construction and chord progressions and the principles of connection that govern them.[2] Harmony is often said to refer to the "vertical" aspect of music, as distinguished from melodic line, or the "horizontal" aspect.[3] Counterpoint, which refers to the interweaving of melodic lines, and polyphony, which refers to the relationship of separate independent voices, are thus sometimes distinguished from harmony.
In popular and jazz harmony, chords are named by their root plus various terms and characters indicating their qualities. In many types of music, notably baroque, romantic, modern and jazz, chords are often augmented with "tensions". A tension is an additional chord member that creates a relatively dissonant interval in relation to the bass. Typically, in the classical Common practice period a dissonant chord (chord with tension) will "resolve" to a consonant chord. Harmonization usually sounds pleasant to the ear when there is a balance between the consonant and dissonant sounds. In simple words, that occurs when there is a balance between "tense" and "relaxed" moments."

Life is complex. There are so many things going on at the same time. The requirements of money, the stresses of relationships, the peace of rest, the busyness of holidays. Schedules conflict. Opinions conflict. Communication styles even differ.

Even with all of these conflicts going on, your life could be beautiful. It could find the perfect balance between "tense" and "relaxed" moments.

To find your harmony, look to the Ultimate Composer. Harmony is the vertical aspect of music. Kepe your eyes on things above (Colossians 3:2). If you only concern yourself with things of this earth, chaos and destruction will be your destiny. (Philippians 3:19)

God's love is so much better than anything you can find here. In my life, espcially in the last 12 months I have seen time and time again where He orchestrates masterpieces out of the dissonance of my life when I give Him control.

Trust Him. He knows what He's doing.
